Its funny because it is the name given to the traditional drink of Peru.
A rum, very tsaty, like my mountain, which i affectionately call it, that of the drunks.
So this is for you. Good Health!!!
After talking with Max who was my guide and companion of the cordada, we prepare the things and set off in motion,.
On the way to the mountain we had to go through Llanganuco who provided hyer charms once again at its lagoon.
The road to the slopes was beautiful, with its waterfalls and streams.
The idea was to make the summit in 2 days. The first day we carried everything until morraine lake, then from there we would attack at early morning, to make the summit for dawn.
We arrived at the marraine camp. after a delicious meal to remove the chill and recharge for the climb, we settled down to sleep.
It was barely 6 in the evening but the idea was to begin to attack at 2 in the morning. so without complaining we went to our sleeping bags.
The night was precious, among those snow covered peaks, with a breathless moon, and a pile of stars in the sky, that seemed to be waiting expectantly for the beginning of our ascent. After a good beakfast to get energy.
We prepared the equipment and got ready to attack. like any loss of virginity, you are anxious, fearful and a bit akward at first. It was the first time i had used crampons and even when you start walking, you look like a duck, but i soon got used to them.
On the road to the summit, thousands of light reflections revealed themselves under my feet, like a diamond path. the snow reflected from the light in front, in a magical endless sparkling heavenly colour, that walks beside you wishing you a good morning.
The ice cracked under my feet at every step and the occasional carck opened up before us, as if trying to intimidate us.
Halfway up, the weather cleared with the sunrise. The spectacular scene was shwon beofre my eyes. something i cant describe in words. The Alpamayo was appreciated, Huazcaran, Huandoy, Chacraraju...
It seems that they did not trust us. he got into a good rhythm and that they did not like.
So it had started to change over time. in a few short minutes and a few metres from the summit, a snow blizzard began, which, cut off our visability and reduced it to only 3 metres. Even so, we decided to finish.
In the end, after loosing our breath on more than one accasion, and thinking of abandoning and doubting whether the forces accompanied you to the top, we achieved it!!!
An unforgetable axperience one of those you become addicted to. and i want to respect it.At such times one is reminded of their own and of the many collegues who have been roped in various occasions. Then you know they are the people who really know how to value these moment. others would say, what needs!!!for what?????
I just tell them: do it and the mountain gives the reason.
Now to recuperate and await the next one with more energy.
