Copacabana and Isla de Sol

Behind me lies Peru, a country that has always left deep impression in me.
Now the story is heading south, this time to Bolivia.

On the border of Copacabana, the Titicaca region is a new surprise that awaits me.For Sure!!
Copacabana is presentably placid, serene, radiant, with her own light, and quiet as the lake that bathes its coasts.

The tradition of venerating the Virgin, makes this a meeting point not only for tourists but for all the devotees, who are here to deliver their prayers and their offerings.

Or, it has to ask for alms, by charity.

Lively and colorful, is not only known for its cathedrals, but it is the major port for access to the magical Island of the Sun.

In the port of Copacabana, there is no lack of movement. Some arrive and others leave. And those that dont, remain their playing.

Some say that if these people are attentive, with their eyes wide open, when the sun goes down, you can see the occasional siren.

Once you get to the Isla del Sol; go carefully.
Some affectionately call it, the Castaway Island, but then there are those who come here with the idea of standing for a few days and leave after a couple of weeks.
Or after a month, like others jejejej So you better keep an eye on your boat.

According to legend, the Inca empire arose from this island. before this, it was a Lake that conceived the Mancu Paca, the first Inca. The presence of the empire is striking.

In its ruins.

In their temples of worship and sacrifice, where they made offerings to the virgins that were kept on the neighboring island:
The Island of the Moon.

From the north to the south, the island is covered by a trek. Walking through it, you can feel the force of this rule at every step.

Its coasts hidden in a wonderful corner, and according to the locals over a treasure.
Gold, which was hidden and offered to the gods.
Treasures protected by the same magic that surrounds this place has. Trying to intimidate those who approach the sacred places.

Tomas welcomed me into their humble home.
A whole Papacho, an elf, wise, expert, and with a peace in the eyes, which only comes with the passing of time and life experience.

He taught me many things, showed me his life, his people. He kindly shared everything, with the people that stayed at his home.

In my stay on the island, there was no lack of parties and dances. And more than one beer fell.
Health!

And as always, in all festive atmosphere.

Some just more affected than others. But the point is fun. And it made some laughs.

In Japapi, where Mr. Tomás resides, each dawn is special.

And each dusk, unforgettable

At the dock in front of the house, I spent hours and shared more than one secret, with its calm waters, while the reeds danced in the wind.

That makes life here very simple and quiet.

Worrying about, only what is really important.

More than one afternoon, was spent on the lake.

Conversations, dreams, illusions, jobs and more, shared with a mate.

As we traveled along the lake.
Arriving on its shores.
As true pirates, conquerors of the landscape that surrounded us.

We were invited to the feast of the harvest. After dancing and making offerings to Pacha, all she wanted and went, I was invited to dine with them.
Soup de quinoa, peanuts, potatoes, oca ..... a feast in honor of the pacha.
Well, if one is generous, Pacha will also be generous with you.

Some wedding took place.

The beauty of this island is only comparable with people who live here.

A place to make friends.

Where you can rest.

You can walk.

Observing what the others do.

Or simply, to just stop and think.

But still always smiling.

That's Isla del Sol. A magical place where you dream and let your imagination run .For those who believe in magic, able to fulfill their dreams.
